At the heart of every PNW fragrance lies a common thread: Laura’s distillation of Western Red Cedar leaf and cone. Olfactory House PNW line is a tribute to the sea and forest ecosystems that define life in the Pacific Northwest.

Merroir is of French origin and refers to the unique marine environmental factors like salinity, water temperature, currents and tides, mineral content, and local marine life that affect shoreline vegetation and specifically how it affects the taste of seafood.

PNW Merroir is an aquatic fragrance inspired by the salty, rain-soaked shorelines of the Pacific Northwest. It opens with the Olfactory House proprietary aquatic accord; a balance of sea breeze, ocean brine, and petrichor that evoke the sea-salted fog and misty rain throughout the region.

At its heart are sweet fennel, wild rose, and mugwort…plants that grow wild along the shoreline. Olfactory House is committed to using rare and underutilized raw materials in perfumery. One such material is choya nakh…a unique distillation of roasted seashells. Its scent brings the briny essence of the sea without veering into the funk of low tide. This mineralic character is supported by luminaria seaweed absolute, deepening the oceanic tone.

The base is a blend of ocean pine, cedarmoss, Western Red Cedar cone and leaf, and a natural ambergris substitute. The realism is stunning, immersive, and evocative. The result is a fragrance that truly captures the PNW air…like bringing the outdoors inside.
